Micro Backyard Wedding | Courtney & Jarek

Give me a micro backyard wedding any day of the week!

When Courtney and Jarek reached out to me about their wedding, I couldn’t hide my excitement as they filled me in about their plans for celebrating their union. The couple opted to keep it simple and intimate by hosting their wedding in their very own backyard, with their sweet jack russell terrier, Ollie, in tow.

Courtney, founder and owner of London, Ontario’s Lost Cycle is an absolute force to be reckoned with. She’s inspiring, exuberant and a bouncing ball of feel-good energy; a triple-threat individual who made my job incredibly easy.

Surrounded by close family and friends, Courtney and Jarek arranged for an officiant to preside over their nuptials in the furthest corner of their backyard. Shaded by lush trees, the couple said their I Do’s and exited the ceremony with the help of their guests and flower petals (a great, from-the-earth alternative!)

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails while the couple and I took a stroll around their neighbourhood for couples portraits. Courtney wore a stunning little number from Lulus, and kept her hair and makeup clean and classic. A natural beauty like her needs nothing else! The contrast of the Coors Light can (and straw) with her elegant gown made for my favourite photo of the day.

The couple honoured their interests by incorporating a late-night bonfire and some cannabis-friendly party favours into their event. These touches, along with others throughout the day made for a uniquely personal and laid back backyard wedding I’d be happy to attend every summer.
